Jamie Angello's Recovery
Donation protected
Early Saturday morning on December 3rd, Jamie Angello, the artist and 2015 UC Davis Art Studio MFA alum, suffered a terrible fall. He was at Verge Center for the Arts in Sacramento with his partner Moriah and son Quinn, meeting up with Moriah’s father to receive an old dresser to add to his studio storage system.
After backing the truck up to the loading dock they removed all of the drawers. Jamie was in the bed of the truck when he began moving the dresser toward the end of the tailgate. He took one or two steps backward, certain he had another step. He misjudged and his left foot slipped off and he fell six feet, landing hip first on the cement.
Jamie’s injuries were profound. He suffered a break in his left hip socket and several fractures to his left pelvis area. Surgeons performed a left acetabulum open reduction surgery taking over five hours, requiring an incision beginning at the front of his right hip, across his lower abdomen, around his left hip, and up four inches of his lower back. He now has one plate and six screws at the site.
Due to the injuries, Jamie will be giving up pending teaching opportunities in the spring, resulting in a dire loss of income. He will require a minimum of three months of rehabilitation before he can walk on his own and return to work.
Your contributions in any amount will go a long way in helping Jamie support his family and make swift progress in his recovery, physically and emotionally.
