Hello, and thank you for stopping by.
I just want to take a quick second to introduce myself. If you don’t know me, my name is Karlee and I’m the wife of James Romelfanger. June 1st of 2025 will be our one year anniversary. Though we haven’t been married long, we have been together since January of 2020. If you know us, you’re aware we went about the whole marriage/ kids thing a little backwards. In November of 2021 we unexpectedly became pregnant with our first boy, Asher, was born in June of 2022. Fast forward 375 days and along came boy/ girl twins Cedar and Iris. Then, finally, to wrap it all up, we got married on June 01, of 2024.
Although our journey is quite hectic, untraditional and quite dramatic (three toddlers, you know?) we wouldn’t trade it for the world.
Recently, in November of 2024 James was diagnosed with Stage Three Hodgekins Lymphoma. Ever since we experienced COVID in November of 2021, James hasn’t felt completely recovered. For years, symptoms of chills/ sweats, fatigue, dizziness, and severe body pain have remained consistent. He has been in and out of the ER, tried tons of medications, exercises, techniques, etc. Some things seem to work temporarily, some not at all.
While in the ER in early November, a CAT scan was performed and a swollen lymph node was located. Over a span of two weeks, the cancerous cells spread throughout different organs in his torso and he rapidly progressed to Stage Three.
Now here we are in April of 2025. James has undergone 7/12 chemotherapy sessions. Within the last couple months, James has had to withdraw from his FT management position to focus on his health, rest, and treatment. I have picked up a PT position in addition to my current FT position to assist in the needs of our family.
We are a young family of 6, (if you include the dog) and as hard as we are working, we are finding it incredibly difficult to meet all of our financial needs. Between medical bills, household bills, rent, groceries, fuel, daycare, etc. we are falling behind. Although we still have income from a FT and PT job, we are looking for financial assistance through the rest of James’s journey equivalent his compensation would’ve been.
Luckily the world has become a little more understanding in health and families (in some aspects). We are very thankful for the help from our friends, family, colleagues, employers, etc. They weren’t kidding when they said it take a village.
Anyway, I’ve been debating for weeks on whether or not to create a GoFundMe for my husband and our family. Some might say it’s selfish, others maybe not. Regardless, I made this choice because I need to do what’s best for James and our babies. After all, websites like this are here for a reason. We’re not meant to do this alone.
if you made it this far, I deeply and personally thank you. Peace ✌️ Love Faith ✝️
