Let me begin by first asking for prayers for my dad, Jim Tagliarino. He is awaiting a heart transplant. After many years of heart problems, and 51 cauterizations, my dad had a heart attack on April 1, 2009 where he almost lost his life. Dad was diagnosed with end stage congestive heart failure. It wasn't long until we found out that we were out of options and the only thing that would save my dad is a heart transplant. In May 2011 My dad was officially accepted into Colombia Presbyterian hospital and put on the transplant list. Unfortunately, New York State has one of the lowest transplant rates in the United States with only 15% of people as registered donors. My dad's health has been progressively declining. After a recommendation from his doctors at St. Francis, he transferred to Westchester Medical center. From the first visit with doctors there I could see that we had a light at the end of the tunnel. He has an amazing doctor there who has given my family so much hope for the future. My dad has been living at Westchester Medical center since January 13, 2015 and can be called for a heart at any time. After his surgery he will be on a great deal of medicine, including anti-rejection medicines to ensure his body accepts his new heart. After meeting with his clinical pharmacy specialist we learned that his insurance doesn't cover all of the medicine that he will be required to take for survival. Even the drugs that the insurance company does cover will leave him paying an extremely high copayment, possibly up to $4,000 a month. He has 2 more years to worry about costs before he turns 65 and a secondary supplemental insurance will cover the gap. I am asking for your help to please find it in your hearts to help my dad. My dad has been through so much these past years and he
is closer then ever to having his second chance at life. He is always the first person to help someone in need and now he needs help. Please GO FUND A HEART.
