Help send a young missionary nurse to the South Pacific...in service for Jesus Christ.
Ever since my daughter, Jael Moriah, was just a young girl, she has had dreams of being a missionary. As a family, we would often read books together about the courage and faith of pioneer missionaries who would venture off to foreign lands to share the message of God’s amazing grace with people who had never heard the name of Jesus. She would voraciously devour these books and passionately talk with us about them. Tracy and I have always encouraged her that there is no higher calling in this life than to sacrificially serve others in need and to share God’s unconditional love with people. Through the years, we have watched Jael's dreams grow and have tried to help her as she pursues His will for her life.
Two years ago, Jael flew across the Pacific Ocean to Mongolia. It was her first major step of faith in missionary service, and she actually trekked out into the Gobi desert to meet and share with nomadic people.
The following year, she bravely travelled to South America, where she floated many miles down the Amazon River in a canoe and then hiked deep into the tropical rain forest of Ecuador to share the love of Jesus with tribal Indians. (We have a priceless video clip of her holding hands and dancing with the young children from that village.)
And now, after recently becoming a newly-minted Registered Nurse, she has been accepted into a medical missionary training program with YWAM (Youth with a Mission). This 5-month long program begins in less than 7 weeks (late January, 2019) in the highlands of New Zealand. In addition to the daily training and teaching that Jael will receive from current and former medical missionary doctors & nurses, she will be flying to many of the surrounding islands in the South Pacific (Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, etc.) to do hands-on ministry to those in need and to provide medical care at local clinics.
As an aside, she will be living very close to the actual Hobbit village that was featured in “The Lord of the Rings”. I made her promise to not go in search of a passageway that leads to Middle Earth and the wilds of Mordor.
An investment opportunity with Eternal Rewards
If you would like to partner with Jael in her missionary endeavors, her mother and I would be very humbled and thankful. And I know Jael will be extremely grateful and blessed beyond measure for any amount of financial support that God lays on your heart to give. These funds will help her to complete this in-depth training and allow her to gain real-world experience, as both a missionary and a medical professional, to people in need of both Jesus and medical care.
We also ask that you would please pray for her throughout the coming weeks and months ahead. Pray that God would prepare her heart and give her wisdom, strength, and the boldness necessary to step outside of her comfort zone to selflessly serve, love, and share God's message of grace. Jael will be providing short monthly updates to all supporters throughout her time there. Thank you for your kind and generous support.
