Let Jacob Move: A Van for a Child Survivor of a Tragic Crash

Help Us Get Jacob a Wheelchair-Accessible Van
On June 25, 2022, my 8-year-old son Jacob and my mother, Lynn Christopher, were struck by a man fleeing police in Brooklyn. My mother was killed. Jacob was thrown across the street, suffered a catastrophic brain injury, and has required 24/7 nursing care ever since.
He’s 11 now. He cannot walk, speak, or smile. He’s quadriplegic, nonverbal, and completely dependent on others for everything. But he’s still here. Still present. Still Jacob.
In the immediate aftermath of the crash, so many of you helped us raise over $48,000 for Jacob’s transition home. That support changed everything — thank you.
Today, we’ve entered a new phase of his journey: mobility.
We are now raising an additional $38,000 for a wheelchair-accessible van. Not just for emergencies or hospital runs — but so Jacob can be included again. So he can see Christmas lights, go to the zoo, be at his sister’s birthday, or simply feel the world move around him.
We’ve raised just under $3,000 so far. Every share and every donation moves us closer.
If you're able to contribute or help us spread the word — thank you. You are part of Jacob’s village.
With love,
Jacob’s mom
