We Got Your Back, Jack!
We are fundraising on behalf of our mother, Jacqueline Overeem (Jackie Jakubowski) who suffered two strokes in early June: first a Ischemic stroke and then after a shunt was placed in her neck to open her artery, a Hemorrhagic stroke. She is only 63 years old. These strokes have left her unable to speak and understand language as well as limited mobility on her right side. She will require round the clock care when she is released from the hospital in a couple of weeks. This time is crucial to determine how her life will be post recovery. She will need to receive rehabilitation (speech, occupational, and physical therapies) at home. We also would like to make her home handicap accessible to keep her as comfortable and independent as possible. We are hoping to raise the funds to hire an at home CNA as well as small remodels to the home to better accommodate her and her new limitations.
Our mom is an amazing mother, sister, wife, aunt and friend. She would tell you that her greatest accomplishment is her 7 grandchildren, who she lives for. She loves spending time with her family, the beach, being with her husband Paul at their restaurant NYPD Wintergarden, traveling and singing Karaoke. We are hoping with rehabilitation and surrounded by her family she will be able to do these things once again.
