As some of you know, Jack has been away from school, sports, friends and his old routine for over two months now.
- He spent a month in Hasbro learning how to cope with some complicated symptoms brought on by stress and anxiety.
- Out of respect for Jack and his privacy, we will let him decide when and if he shares his full story with anyone.
- Jack currently is in Hasbro’s Partial Program. He goes there during week days and comes home at night and for the weekends. We are hoping that Jack will be able to exit the program in the next few months.
We unexpectedly adopted a rescue dog from the Potter League named Rudy.
When Jack and Rudy locked eyes something wonderful happened, that I can’t put into words. Rudy has filled a missing peace inside of Jack by bringing smiles and peace, not only to Jack but all of us. Rudy has fit right in with the whole family and even with our older rescue dog Nala. This wiggly little dog has saved our son and we will be eternally grateful.
Jack is hoping that with specialized training Rudy can become a service dog to help him with anxiety and his epilepsy.
Jack has been saving for Rudy’s training, joined an art sale where he is selling the origami and some leather work that he made in and out of the hospital. He also has started the process of becoming a lifeguard at our local pool to help get closer to his goal of affording Rudy’s training.
So far the first session for training is $200.
- We still aren't sure what the total cost for Rudy's training will look like until we get further into the process.
- But from speaking to other families with Service Dogs it can be quite costly.
- With our family's recent medical bill payments we are not able to afford the cost of training.
- So Jack decided to see how far he can get with this route.
- Some dogs don't pass the temperament assessment or training. If that becomes the case, at the minimum Rudy can be a well-behaved therapy dog for Jack.
- We would put any funds raised towards past and future medical bills for Jack, if Service Dog training doesn't work out for Rudy.
We thank you all for the love and support many of you have shown us from reaching out, to watching our kids so we can visit Jack and meet with his team, and providing ways for our other two kids to get to and from school, we couldn’t do it without all of you.
Go Team Jack & Rudy!
Jack raised $56 selling his origami at the art faire. :)
