Our dear friend Dani, age 31, has an infectious humor and a heart of gold. Dani is a co-worker of mine at Yale University, like a daughter to me.   Everyone knows and loves Dani at work, as you can see from her profile picture, against it all, she smiles through it all and  she brings a smile to your face when you see her, always upbeat and positive.
 As we all heard the news of what happened, we all agreed we can't sit idle, we need to do something to help. 
Her parents are beside themselves, they can't figure out who would do something so horrible or why.  
Dani was the victim of an intentional senseless act of violence.  She was assaulted then was victimized by the same perpetrator with a motor vehicle and left helpless.  While her assailant is still at large, Dani remains in critical condition in ICU. She has already undergone multiples surgeries and faces many additional risky procedures ahead.  Hoping all surgeries go well, she will be faced with months, maybe years of therapies  in hopes that her life will be restored to some normalcy.  

Update: Her assailant had turned herself into Police and we are hopeful that she will be held to the highest regard of the law.  
In the meantime, Dani has spent substantial time at an intensive rehab facility doing therapy.  They have worked very hard in giving Dani the practical skills to be at home with care.  This road my friends will be a long one.  Although she will be released to home care, the amount of time is still unknown.  She has no source of income to pay for her home or medical expenses and must continue to endure these grueling therapies to have a chance at some type of regular life.  She is a fighter, a warrior, she is probably one of the strongest women I know because despite all that she has been through, she's still willing to fight.  Let's help make her fight a bit easier.  Her days a little less stressful.  

 
I am hopeful that I can help generate funds to aid with her hospital bills, numerous ambulance bills, medication costs and physical and occupational therapy costs now and in the future.  There is no estimation on how long she will be out of work.  Her expenses will be ongoing for as long as it is medically necessary.
