Thank you for visiting our fundrasing page for Alfie, a young friend of ours, who was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes just before his 3rd birthday.  

I recently spent a weekend camping with Alfie, who is now 9, and his family and could not believe what this lad has to do on a daily basis to keep himself healthy.  What struck me most about this amazing little boy is that, despite all the finger prick testing, pump changes and constant calculations that he has to do, he always has the biggest smile on his face.  He is unbelievably brave and I feel honoured to know him.   

I decided on that very weekend that I had to do something to try and make his young life just a little bit easier and have set myself a target to raise £7000 to fund Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) equipment for the next three years.  As well as other things, this equipment will mean Alfie no longer having to continually prick his finger to test his blood.  You can find out more about CGM here .

My family and friends, including Alfie’s wonderful parents, are supporting me in this fundraising effort and we have lots of events planned over the coming year including:

Dad’s Cycle across Wales (280 miles), May 2017
