Caring for the Caregiver
Donation protected
Janice has cared for Portland's marginalized community as a registered nurse for over 45 years. She has provided care to individuals experiencing homelessness, those coping with severe mental illness and substance use disorder, and adults impacted by the criminal justice system. Her well of compassion never seems to run dry, nor does her boundless energy.
Now, more than ever, she needs our help as her partner, Jean, enters hospice care after many years of pursuing various intensive treatments.
One month ago, Janice and Jean were forced to move out of their 20-year rental to a new community over an hour away from work and friends. Janice can no longer "run home" at lunch or be available for emergencies, which are now a daily occurrence. She has found herself split between caring for patients and her partner of over 30 years - an impossible situation.
We hope to raise enough money to allow Janice to stay home with Jean during this chapter of life - to reduce the financial burden in hopes that they can enjoy their time together and find peace.
We humbly appreciate your consideration and any support you can contribute.
