Hello my name is Magdalena but you can call me Maggie,
some of you know me as JD's sister and some of you know me as Rhonda's daughter. I'm very much so both of those, and very proud of those facts. Some of you don't know any of us at all, so please let me take the time to thank you now for coming to my page (well it's really JD's page). I hope you read thru our story and share it as much as you can because I have a goal to reach and I can't reach that goal with out your help. I'm pleaing for your help today. I'm striving to reach this goal before JD's 19th birthday.
This is JD, he is my little brother. My only brother! On August 11th, 2014 he will turn 19 years old. I consider that pretty amazing! Why, you ask? because JDs life expectancy was no greater than 2 years at the time of his diagnoses. He was diagnosed with Obstructive Hydrocephalus on October 11, 1995 and with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1 (SMA) on January 11, 1996. He has been trach and vent dependent since he was 5 months old. He is our miracle! He is my hero!
I won't go into to many details about his diagnoses on this page because I have so much to share with you but you can read all about JD and his diagnoses over on his FaceBook page (https://www.facebook.com/journeyofdancingintherain
) our mom put together. Mom shares just about everything when it comes to JD. If you ask her, she will happily give up any information she has learned from JD in the past 19 years. Our Mom has literally given up her life to fight for the life of her child (my brother). I have decide that I need to step things up and help as much as I can for JD and Mom to have a better life. That's why I'm asking for your help today, I feel I must help take this burden off my mom's shoulders, she has so much on her plate already. She hates it when people say that about her, that's why I wrote it. She carries so much but she's not going to let on that she does. You can't even begin to imagine how much she does carry on her plate. Mom also has a boyfriend Randy, who was diagnosed with Adult Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL Ph+) on December 1, 2012. Randy's life turned upside down at the age of 39, doctors told him he had anywhere from 2 days to 2 months to live without aggressive chemotherapy. Today Randy is still in treatment fighting for his life and mom is right by his side every step of the way. Randy and mom have been together for over 10 years now, together they have raised JD and I, together they have sacrificed to give JD and I a better life. Today I'm hoping you can help me give back to them and possibly make their life a little easier.
My goal here is to reach 1900 people willing to help with a $19.00 donation for JD's wheelchair van before his 19th birthday. $19 from 1900 before his 19th.
This would give JD enough money to start things rolling toward his wheelchair van = less burden on my Mom and Randy! = One happy camper (JD) because we won't have to tell him that he can't go this time around because we would have to take two cars. I know he hates hearing that from us. He wants to go with us every time and he can't and he has never been able to. I would like to make that possible for him, Mom and Randy. Unfortunately, due to the prices of medically equiped vehicles today, this is a project that will require some assisstance from friends, family and complete strangers. I know this sounds inprobable at first, but most things do in the beginning? Truthfully, it's as simple as "People helping People". Please, help me make that possible for them. I went down and opened an account for JD's wheelchair van at Amegy Bank, he has $60.00 in it to start out, I plan on adding $$ every pay check I get until he gets his van. Every bit counts. So, if you want to help but can't make a donation at this time, no worries. Please, spread the word and share this page with as many friends, family and complete strangers as you can. Once again, I THANK YOU, so very much for your support and donations. Don't forget to check out JD's face book page mentioned above.
