Isabelle (and Alex) go to China!

Dear friends and family,
It fills me with great pride and joy to announce that Isabelle has been invited to join the Santa Rosa Symphony's Youth Orchestra on their tour to China in June!
As many of you know, she has been working hard for months to achieve this dream of hers. And I would love the opportunity to join the tour as a chaperone and witness her in this once in a lifetime experience!
Given that Isabelle has joined late in the season, we have a short amount of time to raise the funds needed, which is why we are reaching out to our broader community for support.

A note from Isabelle:
I started playing viola four years ago when I was 9, and I loved the insrument the moment I picked it up. I started two years ago in the Santa Rosa Symphony's Preparatory orchestra, and then one year ago started playing in the Repertory (intermediate) orchestra. I am currently principal viola of the Repertory orchestra, and I also play in the Santa Rosa Symphony's Young People's Chamber Orchestra (YPCO), as well as playing in my school's string ensemble. This year I joined the Simply Strings program as a mentor for 2nd and 3rd graders at a local under-served elementary school. I love working with them because it is such a special experience to be able to interact with younger children. Over the past few months I have become close to several of the students and have enjoyed watching them grow musically.
Playing viola is what I want to do most in life, and what I wish to do in college and then professionally. This trip means so much to me because it is a big step into a higher level of experience and maturity, and I'm ready for the challenge!
Here's a snapshot of what Isabelle will experience on the tour:
The SRS Youth Orchestra will visit Beijing, Xi’an, Hangzhou and Shanghai, performing 3 concerts, experiencing cultural exchanges, and observing important monuments of China’s ancient past and recent growth. Beijing’s Forbidden City and Imperial Palace, the Great Wall, the Terra Cotta Museum, and an acrobatic show.
What your contribution will help provide for both Isabelle and Alex on the tour:
The tour tuition of $3,300 (per person) includes round-trip airfare, coordination and planning of 3 performances, including publicity and venue rental; transportation by private, deluxe motorcoach throughout the land portion of the trip, including an instrument trailer; coordination of further experiences such as cultural exchanges and workshops; 7 nights accommodation; breakfast daily, 6 lunches, 4 group dinners; entrance and guided sightseeing tours of our destination cities and sites, including Shanghai’s Bund and Yu Garden, Beijing’s Forbidden City and Imperial Palace, the Great Wall, the Terra Cotta Museum, an acrobatic show, and more; services of one tour manager per motorcoach, and pre-departure briefing and assistance at airport check-in by tour management staff; and all taxes, tips and service charges for services above.
