Friends & Family of Matthew & Misty –
As some of you already know, our dear McLendon’s are engaged in a battle for their family.
11 months ago they took their nephew, Ivan, into their home. It soon became very apparent that they would be able to give Ivan a home and a family forever. If you know Matt and Misty well, you know that they have done everything they could for Ivan, and have completely wrapped their arms and hearts around him and have made him their son in all but official papers/name. On April 29th they were finally given the green light to adopt Ivan this May, and their sweet little family of four was ecstatic. Within a few short days, Ivan was ripped from their home. He had been playing in their backyard with his brother and got a small scratch on his cheek. For no other reason than because he had troubled times before coming into Matt and Misty’s home, he told his teacher a lie about how it happened. Though he told investigators other stories, that one lie was enough for investigators to conclude Ivan must be immediately taken away. Devastated doesn’t even begin to describe the feelings of having their son taken from their home and placed only God-knows-where.
The McLendon’s are not the type to sit by and passively let their son move through the system at snail pace and allow just anything to happen to him. They have been advised by an attorney to remain engaged and proactive, and they need this attorney’s help to represent them in court. Here’s where we come in. There is little we can really do for them. But if we all pitch in together we can help them with the retainer, and join them in fighting for their son. Let’s put an army of loved ones behind them. If just 40 of us donate $100, the retainer is covered. If by any chance there are funds left over, they will be paid forward – you know Matt and Misty, they’re already thinking that far ahead. Our helping with the retainer is a huge help; if you’ve ever had a legal battle you know that is not where the demands on your money end.
If you would like more information from the McLendon's on their situation, please feel free to contact Misty. We will continue to update the support page on Facebook to keep you up to date on the family's progress!
