My Autism Classroom Supplies/Tech
Donation protected
Welcome to my fundraising campaign! My name is Katie Gleeson and I am a special education teacher in a public school on Long Island. I teach a self-contained class for children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders. This particular program was created 2 years ago and is still in it's infancy. As a public school teacher we are given a very limited budget each year to purchase supplies for our classrooms...only $65 for the whole year!! Obviously with a new and growing program there are LOTS of materials that are needed. For the past 2 years I have been funding these materials myself...and breaking the bank!! A friend recently suggested trying to raise the funds needed through a GoFundMe campaign and I thought it was a GREAT idea!
So here's the deal:
I am hoping to raise $2000 that will go directly to helping my students succeed.
Here's how I'd spend the money:
--GoVizzle Web Based Software for the diverse needs of all learners (waiting for quote but approximately $940 per year)
--News2You cloud-based learning for special education ($159 per year)
--Various reinforcing materials (positive reinforcement is an important part of any autism/ABA program and it is vital to have a rotating selection of enticing objects/edibles/environments)
--Curriculum materials/manipulatives (particularly for science, social studies, and social skills)
--Consumable items (e.g., glue sticks, expo markers, laminating pouches, velcro, tissues, papertowels, etc.)
--Sensory items (children with autism are often sensory-seeking and/or sensory-defensive...each often require materials to help them regulate sensory input).
Any and all donations will go a long way to helping build a successful program for students with autism!
Thank you for your support!
