Support BCNU Staff on Strike
Donation protected
Since July 22, when the BC Nurses' Union locked out its support staff and forced a strike, MoveUP members have been walking the picket line. They are fighting to prevent clawbacks to their medical and sick leave benefits.
MoveUp staff serve the nurses of BC with respect and dedication. They believe they deserve a fair contract with no concessions - same as the nurses. They believe in the union value of paying workers a decent wage. They believe that BCNU should get back to the bargaining table and start to Walk the Talk on their own professed union values.
MoveUP staff believe in collectivity, solidarity and social justice and will continue their fight. But strike pay is not a living wage! And they've been subsisting on a greatly reduced income for six weeks now and it's starting to take its toll.
MoveUP staff have mortgages, daycare fees, university tuition and household debt to pay. But they also need to eat. Your donation will go toward purchasing grocery cards so that MoveUP staff will have one less expense to worry about while this strike drags on.
We are friends and allies of MoveUP. We created this website for those of us who have a little extra to spare and want to help out.
We have already begun to hand out $100 Superstore gift cards to MoveUP folks on the picket line - one per member. We will be mailing gift cards to those in the satellite locations.
Thank you for your support!
With love and solidarity.
