Help Dick and Karen Rebuild After Fire

The Island of Islesboro suffered a terrible loss yesterday. Dick and Karen Cilley’s home was burned completely. Dick is the bus driver that gets our kids safely to and from school. Karen owns the Sandcastle Grill at the ferry. You have probably interacted with this family many times over the years.

It’s time for our community to come together and help Dick and Karen. They have literally lost everything. Dick was home when the fire started in the ceiling. He rushed to get their pets out of the house and was barefoot the whole time! A neighbor gave him a pair of shoes to wear.

Islesboro’s fire department, with mutual aid help from Lincolnville, responded to fight this fire. Friends and neighbors did what they could. Now, the reality of rebuilding their lives begins.
