Isaac's Eyes / Rebecca's Bat Mitzvah Project

Donation protected
Hi everyone,
My name is Rebecca Shamah and I’m in the 6th grade.

For my Bat Mitzvah project, I’m excited to be working with the Pediatric Retinal Research Foundation, to help raise both awareness and money for the amazing work that they do.

It is a Foundation that is very close to my heart, because two years ago my baby cousin Isaac was born with an extremely rare genetic condition called Familial Exudative Vitreoretinopathy (FEVR). Unfortunately Isaac has the most severe case and was born completely blind. The mission of the Pediatric Retinal Research Foundation (PRRF), led by Dr. Antonio Capone, is to support the community of families impacted by blinding pediatric retinal diseases and champion the quest for cure.

We were introduced to Dr. Capone and the PRRF shortly after Isaac was born. Over the past two years, our family has seen Dr. Capone perform small miracles on Isaac’s eyes through multiple surgeries, and with Hashems help, along with the money I raise, we are hopeful that he can continue to work with children like Isaac, to help them regain their vision one day.

Please consider joining me in supporting this important foundation in honor of my incredible cousin Isaac Askenazi.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and being part of my Bat Mitzvah project.

Love,
Rebecca Esther Shamah
