Meet Irma Blair-
Irma is a teacher at one of the Kansas city Kansas Public schools. She is a widower of Mark Blair, the only man to have died while on duty for the Lawrence Fire Department in Lawrence, Kansas. She is a loving mother of two beautiful Sons. Mark, who is 31, has a degree in Engineering Technology and works in Indiana, and Allan, who is 30, is a Captain in the United States Army, stationed in Texas. She also has a 1 year old grandchild and one on the way.
A few months ago, Irma was diagnosed with Primary Invasive Malignant Neoplasm of the Breast. She is currently going through chemotherapy. Irma is a very strong lady and she is fighting this cancer with everything she has.
She is a Special Education teacher at Kansas City Kanasa Early Childhood Center. She works with 3-6 year olds with Autism, developmental delays, and Downs Syndrome. Her chemotherapy has weakened her immune system and has made her very fatigued. Irma has worked in the Kansas City Kanas Public School District for 9 years. This will be the first time that she will not be able to continue to work over the Summer.
Irma has insurance through her work and she feels very blessed by having this benefit. The insurance company is paying its part; however, she has to pay a high copay and the hospital bills are beginning to pill up . Because of these chemo treatments she needs to miss days of work that leaves her with a reduce income which leaves her unable to pay towards her copay part. In addition to these chemo treatments, Irma is schedule to have surgery sometime before next school year which will for awhile reduce the days she will be able to work.
This is why Irma needs your help! She has lived by herself since her sons moved out. All of her neighbors, Lawrence fireman, friends, family from out of town, and coworkers have been there to take her to and from her appointments, to watch over her after procedures, mow her grass, help with any chores or making food that she has needed. Due to her having to step away from her job for a little bit, money will be scarce to be able to continue to pay for her medical bills, food, other bills, and just have money to live off of. Any donation is very much appreciated and a huge blessing. This will be a huge help to Irma to get her through this battle she is facing.
