Irene's MS surgery

Donation protected
Irene (my mom) has had Multiple Sclerosis for 38 years, being diagnosed at the young age of 18.  Although being diagnosed at such a young age my mom never let that stop her from living her life to the fullest, to this day she has not stopped giving up hope that one day there will be a cure for this incurable disease.

My brother and I lived with my mom for the majority of our younger years aside from the weekends at our dads. She was a single parent raising two children living with Multiple Sclerosis. We didn't have much money but we had each other.  Over the years with MS and a few relapses due to medicine that did not work, MS has taken its toll on my Mothers walking abilities and overall health.

My mom does many things in her life to keep her strength up so she is able to continue walking with a walker instead of being confined to a wheelchair. She does however have to use a wheelchair for long distances or if there are many places to go that day.
My mom is independent, lives on her own, takes care of herself, and has worked for 6 years a couple days a week at a job she loves so she has extra money to do fun things in life.

Many research and procedures have been done for people with MS, but there was one procedure that caught her eye and has had amazing results for people with MS, results so good that these people we able to RUN again... it's amazing...
In 2012 my mom and I flew to California (as they don’t have this procedure in Canada) to go to the Synergy Health Concepts Clinic to get this treatment done, this procedure opened up the jugular veins which close up due to MS.  Within 45 minutes after the procedure my mom felt like a new woman, she was getting feeling back in her toes, which she had not had for years among many other feelings.  However she was one of the many that after a period of time the veins closed back up. So she is looking to go again!

This specific treatment was no longer available anywhere in the world so my mother started researching other procedures.

Stem cell transplant procedures have been proven to be very beneficial for people who suffer from multiple sclerosis. After specific research for a place that would use my mother’s own stem cells instead of those of fetuses. We have found a clinic in San Jose, Costa Rica.

I am looking to raise $10,000 so my mom doesn’t have to take out a loan again and work to pay for this MS procedure herself. She has done and will always do everything for everyone before doing anything for herself. I am going to help in any way I can which I always have, but there is only so much I can do on my own.

The trip is booked for September 15, 2018

Thank you for your time
