We are the Grand Rapids Indie-Brass outfit, The Lake Effects, and we're finally putting together our first full-length album! It will include all of the fruits of our labors for the last two years--that's over 100 rehearsals, 20 shows, 4 radio appearances, and 40 hours of driving. In that time, we've played with marching bands, in condemned buildings, from Port Huron to Muskegon, and everywhere inbetween. We'll be recording with legendary producer/bassist of Mustard Plug, Rick Johnson. The new album will include eight Lake Effects hits, including mathy classics "Serendipity" and "Iowa," and the hilarious and aggressively overt ode to Jimmy Fallon, "Jimmy."
We need your help! There are many costs involved with recording, and the price of a new album simply exceeds the available funds of four working-class college students. Every dollar that we make through this campaign will be used to cover recording and production fees, CD production, electronic distribution fees, transportation costs, in-studio pizza, and artwork. Rest assured, your hard-earned dollars will be put to good use. Plus, you can earn rad perks, like pre-orders, studio updates, public appearances with the Lake Effects, and even a private show. So what are you waiting for?! Help us out, and be the envy of your neighborhood (or the target of noise complaints--whichever).
The CD will be recorded in mid-August at Cold War Studios , and released early this Winter at a Grand Rapids release party. If you don't have money to give, we're happy to recieve support in any way--you could book us at a show, donate your time to help with artwork, videos, or show promotion, tell your friends about us, or just come hang at one of our shows.
