Jason Nixon: 
Long time Hawai’i Lifeguard & Lieutenant of the West Hawai’i Ocean Safety division, 12 time Ironman Kona finisher & Ultraman Hawai‘i finisher & father of his college student daughter has been battling a barrage of health issues starting with a near fatal cycling accident in 2016 while in Australia in which an intoxicated man on a beach cruiser bike t-boned Jason while training for Ironman aus. That crash landed jason in the ICU for 2 months, then he had an infection on his heart valve, his condition worsened while in the ICU again and actually had to get shocked by the AED to bring him back.  While recovering from all that he contracted mersa which is an aggressive form of staphylococcus, likely from all the time in the hospital.  A recent cycling crash Jason had landed him in the hospital again with a traumatic injury to his elbow which needed skin grafts to heal.  While recovering from that Jason contracted severe diverticulitis in which they had to cut out a length of his colon, there was complications to that surgery so he had to undergo another emergency surgery last week and now is scheduled for another surgery soon.

Jason only has 6 months more till he can retire and all this time in the hospital has used up all of his sick leave and vacation, any more time off of work will place him on leave w/ out pay. He can’t afford that.  The money we’re raising will help him with his mounting medical bills which are as of now estimated at $20,000.

Jason is personally responsible for saving hundreds of lives through out his career, and now he is in need of help.  Any amount will be appreciated and put to good use. Mahalo Nui from your Hapuna Lifeguards.
