My name is Alanis Ingraham and I am a proud Bahamian student attending Liberty University in Virginia. As you may know, my country, The Bahamas, has been severely damaged by Hurricane Dorian.
Currently my family along with thousands of others are without medical help, power, food, or other basic necessities. Regretfully, I personally know many people who are still in need of being rescued. I am thankful that my Aunt along with other family and friends who were trapped have been saved and remain alive. However, they left their homes with a trash bag full of valuable items in hopes to return. Unfortunately, our homes are now in ruins. Additionally, my mom and grandma’s homes have been flooded and sustained severe structural damage, making them inhabitable.
As a result, I’ve started this Go Fund Me campaign to raise money for my family. My family needs your help to survive, as global support trickles in. I’d like to ask you to please donate alongside me. Together, our donations can help restore hope, life, and basic human needs to my family, and fellow Bahamians. My relationship to the people of The Bahamas - I'm a fellow citizen, friend, and family member of many Bahamians.
The funds will be spent in the following ways - to provide basic necessities (see list of needed items below) to those that have lost so much, as well as my family mentioned above. Any money that is left over will be provided to individuals and families who need help rebuilding their lives.
The funds will be withdrawn from this GoFundMe campaign in the U.S., and will be used to purchase the basic necessities that they don't have on the island of Grand Bahama anymore. My father and brother in Grand Bahama will oversee how the supplies are used and given out to my family and others in need.
