Missions/Fellowship in Indonesia

When I (Danielle) moved to Ngawi, Indonesia, I knocked on the church's door and introduced myself in broken bahasa Indonesia. I was looking for a church, but because I lived in a village without easy access the city, I would need to figure out how to get to church in time for the service. Pastor Henry and his wife Linda (pictured 2nd and 3rd from the left) welcomed me. They invited me-- a stranger and foreigner-- to stay at their house whenever I needed. Their house soon became a home away from home. Wanting to share my new church family, I invited Kelly, another Peace Corps Volunteer.

I (Kelly) had been living in Gentong, Ngawi for a year when Danielle invited me to the church. I had been praying for months to find Christian community in my area, but really believed that there wasn’t any. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that the church in Ngawi was driving out to my own village every other Saturday to worship with Christian families! The church was an answer to my prayers and became an invaluable part of my experience in Indonesia – taking Danielle and I into their community, feeding us, and loving us as sisters in Christ.

To continue outreach and fellowship with villages like Gentong, our church (Gereja Utusan Pantekosta Di Indonesia Jemaat Ngawi) needs help making its car payment. The congregation contributes $100/month, but due to key donors passing away, the church is $81/month short. The church still has 37 more monthly payments, and because it has not been able to identify new donors, the church anticipates being about $3,000 short. Although we do not expect to fundraise all of this money here online, we hope you'll consider contributing whatever you can to help our church. We will wire the money we fundraise directly to Linda in Ngawi, Indonesia.
