Hi,

My incredible mom, Jeanne M. Gilson, passed away on Thursday, Feb 24, 2022. She leaves behind my sister Susie Cheney, my brother Rob Cheney, and myself, Stephanie Cheney.

This gofundme is being created specifically for my sister Susie, who has a learning disability.

Susie will likely struggle the most from this, and be the most impacted from our loss, as she has never been apart from my mother in all of her 38 years. Her disability includes being emotionally underdeveloped, a low IQ, and she has trouble coping with change and loss. She has always relied on my mother for all of her basic needs. In return, my sister has always given all of herself to help care for my mom. She helped her manage her medications, cared for her when she was bed-bound with a broken back, and they were life long roommates.

My mom has always been worried about what would happen to my sister after she passed and I assured her that I would do my very best to ensure that she is able to continue living and learning her independence.

We will be unable to afford to continue to pay for the rent where my sister and mother were living and will need to locate housing, beyond my couch, for my sister.

It would mean absolutely everything to my mom to know that her daughter is being cared for now that she is gone, and it would mean everything to me to be able to keep that promise to my mom.

(We are already pursuing the various avenues through DDS and DSS, and other organizations. This is just to help get her going as there are long wait lists for these services).
