Update- unfortunately, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our much loved friend Kez who has has sadly passed away at 09.13am of the 12/09/2026. We will still be doing the walk in his memory and a whole army of people who love Kez and Gina will be joining together to complete this challenge. All funds raised will now go toward helping Gina with the funeral costs and giving him the send off he deserves. Please keep giving what ever you can spare to support the family in this heartbreaking time.

Walking for Kez: Lancaster Castle to Blackpool Tower

On Saturday 3rd October, we will be taking on a challenge that means so much more than just a long walk. We will be walking from Lancaster Castle to Blackpool Tower in support of my friend Keiron (Kez), who was facing the toughest battle of his life.

Kez was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Melanoma from an unknown primary source. The cancer has spread to his lymph nodes, with lesions affecting his spine and the lining of his brain. As a result, he has suffered temporary loss of sight in his right eye due to pressure caused by the disease, as well as enduring constant pain throughout his body. He is now pain free and at rest.

Before this devastating news, Kez dedicated himself to serving others. He proudly served his country in the Royal Logistics Corps, where he quickly progressed to become a Vehicle Support Specialist. During his military career, he spent a significant period serving in the Falkland Islands.

After leaving the Army, Kez built a successful landscaping business and continued giving back to his community. As a member of the fundraising group The Burlyesque Boys, he played a key role in helping raise more than £10,000 for Mind UK, supporting people struggling with mental health challenges.

Since his diagnosis, Kez has been unable to work, making it incredibly difficult for him to fulfil his one wish: to marry the love of his life, Gina. All funds will now be going toward his funeral costs.

Together, Kez and Gina are raising two beautiful children. Through all of this, Gina has been nothing short of inspirational. She is a devoted mother, loving partner, talented Burlesque instructor, and a wonderful friend to so many within the Fleetwood and wider communities.

We are undertaking this challenge to help raise the funds needed to give him the best possible send off the great man deserves.

This journey is especially meaningful because it reflects Kez's own life journey. He spent much of his youth in Lancaster, a place filled with happy memories, before moving to Blackpool to build a life with Gina and raise their family. By walking from Lancaster Castle to Blackpool Tower, I hope to honour that journey and show him just how many people are standing beside him.

Every single donation, no matter how small, will go directly to Gina to help them create the most beautiful send off.

This is a huge challenge and a huge ask, but together we can help make their dream come true. We can bring some light, hope, and happiness during what has been the darkest period of their lives.

The Challenge

The walk will cover approximately 26 miles and is expected to take around 9 hours to complete.

Throughout the day, I will be posting regular updates from each checkpoint so supporters can follow my progress and cheer me on as I make my way from Lancaster to Blackpool.
