The William "Bill" Acosta Scholarship Fund

Donation protected
Bill knew that an "education" can change a life... it changed his.

William "Bill" Acosta lived his life advocating for the voiceless, leading campaigns of cross cultural understanding around the world, and working to encourage and support others in their pursuit of higher education.  He attended UCLA and USC, served as a naval pilot in the Korean War  and a reservist all his life,  worked as a social worker in East L.A., worked for the US Agency for International  Development in Panama, the US Peace Corps in Colombia and the Dominican Republic, and finally was the Regional Administrator for Health and Human Services for Region VI in Dallas.  Upon his retirement, he went straight to Thurgood Marshall law school.   When asked why,  he said, "I have always been interested in the law and want to continue to advocate for others in a different way."  He worked, volunteered, and was a board member with numerous organizations focused on improving the lives of others.  Such an accomplished life for a boy from East LA, the son of immigrant parents from Mexico.

As a family, we have no doubt that he would like us to continue to help others in their pursuit of education.  We have established this yearly scholarship fund in his name.

Thank you for your love and support.
