In Memory of Christian Ngabo

Our family and community is mourning for our son, nephew,grandson,a friend and a classmate Christian Ngabo (17 years old); who drowned in Lake Michigan at Holland state park, on Saturday June 6th. This tragic incident has affected many people who knew him across Grand Rapids.

Christian Ngabo went at the beach to enjoy the sunny day, with his brother Freddy (19 yrs old) and other friends, around 4:45 pm he was seen struggling in the water 40 to 50 yards  off shore ,his brother Freddy tried to swim towards him to rescue him, he started also struggles in the water but he was able to swim back to the shore and was thrown a life ring ,as lake conditions at the time had waves 4 to 6 feet in height with
reported rip current.
Ngabo’s body was not found until Monday June 8th at 9am. Those few days was the hardest for family to go through.

Ngabo was very friendly , he was known for his generous heart , he was a senior at Union high school, He was also a member of Oakdale Park Church, also a member of youth church choir.

Ngabo’s family had just started to adopt to new life  here in USA, therefore we are raising funds to help for funeral expenses and other family needs during this difficult time. His funeral is expected to be held on Saturday June 20th at Calvary church (Funeral Service) and later at Chapel hill memorial cemetery. We would like to thank each and everyone who has been and continue to be with the family during this difficult time.
