Ife Basim Masterpieces presents, ‘In Celebration of Mothers'.
This latest production highlights our abilities as mothers to not only nourish, encourage and strengthen our children, it puts a spotlight on the need to engage in difficult, but necessary conflict resolution, while also stressing the overriding factor that’ self-affirmation continues to help us to be Super Women.
‘In Celebration of Mothers’, features the creative writings of Ife Basim. It includes two essays that were selected in 2019 and 2020 by the Billie Holiday Theater’s essay contest, “50in50”; a dramatic reading of a 10-minute play, that was performed at the Unidentified Stages event at the South Orange Performing Arts Center, and a poem that was performed at the Newark Women’s Writers Workshop.
Our pre-Mother’s Day program features special musical guest Janet Van Kline, and fellow creatives Phyllis Blanford, DeAnn Lawrence, Patricia Walton, Zakiyyah Zah’meh and Joy Topping-Mann.
