Cause: Increase the safety and security of Pinellas County Schools.
- Currently only $1,000,000.00 is allocated to security equipment/capital.
- There are around 140 schools in Pinellas County.
- That's only $7,142.86 per school.
The safety of our children is paramount. Donations are needed in order to dramatically increase funding for security equipment and staff. The security of our schools should be at least on par with courthouses and other government buildings, if not greater.
We must take action. In the wake of recent tragedies it is apparent that both political sides will continue to argue with little results to follow. We must step into the breach where they have failed. It is incumbent upon us to take it into our own hands and fix what needs fixing.
The goal is to, at least, double the funds each school has available for security equipment. Donations will be used to create the nonprofit Improve Pinellas and fund Project: Safe Students. I will be running the charity and the funds will be distributed to the Safe School programs of each school district.
Funds are needed immediately but I hope to raise $2,000,000.00 by this time next year. Thereafter, Improve Pinellas will take up new projects to improve the lives of the people of Pinellas County as needed.
