Mauricio Chavez (Maui)

Hello, my name is Malina. I am (Maui) Mauricio’s mom. On June 13th 2025, my 22 yr old son suffered a terrible motorcycle accident that he was not able to recover from. The accident took place in Wasilla and Maui was medi vac to Anchorage in hopes to being able to have emergency surgery. Surgery was denied after an mri/ct scan determined surgery would be impossible to perform.

Maui had multiple fractures to his face, one to his skull, his jaw was fractured and broken into three pieces, he lost a lot of blood including oxygen to his brain and a piece of his broken jaw severed his main artery.

Maui was announced brain dead 06/15/2025. Due to his age, excellent health, blood type and being a non smoker Maui was given the opportunity to save lives by donating his organs. Maui was left on life support for an additional 4 days as 6 recipients were matched to receive these organ donations. Unfortunately last minute Maui’s heart and lungs were no longer eligible to be donated to the recipients that were on stand by at their local hospitals.

Mauis medical expenses should be fully covered covered by his health insurance and his funeral costs are being covered by his employer.

However, as a single parent in order to not separate our family of four over the years I had placed a heavy burden on Mauis shoulders to help cover half of the living expenses while we all lived under one roof so if anyone can find it in their hearts, to donate anything that would be amazing. If not, please just keep us in your prayers.

Maui leaves behind his young brother, sister, mother, family and friends. He had two more instructional flight classes left prior to getting his pilot licenses, he was on a wait list at one point to become an electrician and found a passion for bikes even though he himself was a beginner rider.
