My name is Melissa and the purpose of this campaign is to help me raise money for a fresh start and a real chance at fulfilling my dreams. I will use this money to pay off debt (which is mostly a school loan for a culinary school that is now defunct here) as well as go back to school full-time to get my degree in forensics and start living my dream in this wonderful adventure called life.
You may be wondering how I got into debt. In 2009, it was very difficult to find a job. I didn't have the confidence at the time to go to school for forensics but I really enjoyed cooking so I decided to try that instead. I wanted to make sure whatever I did was something I would enjoy. Needless to say, I was unfulfilled. Though I still enjoy cooking, my real passion is science. Being able to solve crimes or prove things through science has been a dream for a long time and I'm ready to do it. The rest of my debt is due to credit cards. Sometimes things come up and you incur unexpected expenses like needing your vehicle repaired. It can be very costly and it's just part of life. I work full time and take a few classes sometimes in order to promote at my current job. I fully support myself and have no family to fall back on.
I am hoping and asking for the help of my friends and strangers in this adventure. You're all I've got. I have always focused on making others happy and doing everything I can for them so now I'd like to do the same for myself. Like the Joe Cocker song goes, "Oh I get by with a little help from my friends." So friends, I never for ask for anything but I am asking now, please help. If you are not able to donate, that's ok; I very much appreciate the support.
There are lots of people deserving of money and I believe I am one of them. I have survived terrible things as a child and into my adulthood. Things you do not even want to imagine. However, I am not telling you this for sympathy. I am a strong, smart, independent woman who can survive more than most. For that, I believe I am deserving of help. I never had the courage to ask for it before but I do now. I also believe there are people who are less deserving of financial help like Mr. Kanye West is not. Please help someone more deserving than the likes of him.
