Cannon Lost His Battle Against IMHA

Donation protected
Dear Family & Friends,

On February 4, 2025, Cannon was rushed to emergency vet after only thinking he had a UTI for several days to find out his condition was much worse. Labs showed he was severely anemic and was at high risk of spontaneously bleeding. After blood transfusion, antibiotics, blood thinners, and immunosuppressants drugs it appears to be that Cannon had Immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia, which is an Autoimmune disease at this time we do not know what triggered it.

Immune-mediated hemolytic anemia (IMHA) is a life-threatening autoimmune disease in dogs that causes the body to attack its own red blood cells.

As some of you guys may know Cannon was 4 years old. He is my family. Cannon is the most sweetest loving dog you can imagine. He was a big baby a teddy bear who wanted to be cuddled up with a human getting all the love and back scratches. He’s would give you a paw to let you know you are not going anywhere but to be by his side. He loved to lay out in the yard, and play with his dog brother Ace. Cannon loved to be my son and I’s security dog our protector when we were out on walks. We needed him.

The morning of February 6, 2025, Cannon Ball still had the the courage and strength for mommy, Matisse, and grandma to take him out on what we didn’t except to be his last and final walk with us. In the evening the doctor notified us that his blood levels significantly dropped to severe levels and that to survive he would need more blood transfusions. At that moment we knew that he was losing his battle against this horrible disease. On arrival to the hospital when we saw Cannon, you could tell he was holding on to the last bit of life he had for his family to see him. Cannon gained his wings that night.
Cannon put up a tough fight. We love him with all of our hearts. We made so many great memories in the 4 years we brought him into our family.

To be fully transparent, I did not have Pet Insurance for Cannon, only Pet Wellness Coverage which didn’t cover emergency visits. Never in a million years did I expect anything like this to happen to our lovely boy.

Out of pocket we paid $15,000 on two nights emergency hospital stay. We gave Cannon the opportunity to give it all he had and fight.

If you’re able, please consider donating to help cover Cannon’s medical expenses. Every bit helps, and we’re deeply appreciative of any support during this difficult time.

Thank you for reading and for any assistance you can offer. We greatly appreciate it. Much love.

Pleassssssseeeeeeeee have insurance for your pets to avoid a financial burden like this one.
