I have been accepted to present at the International Conference of Permafrost in Potsdam, Germany! This will be a great opportunity to meet experts in the Geology fields and will give me some experience which will look really good in the future and that relates to my field of study here at UAF.
The trip is pretty expensive, and so far I have some funding from the undergraduate research program here, but I'm falling short by about $2,000 - $2,500 dollars. Since some of this trip is paid for, I wanted to spend some time travelling in Europe. I actually found cheaper plane tickets that have a detour on the way to Germany. I hope to fly to Rome and stay for a few days, then take a train to Switzerland where I would spend 4 days exploring and hiking! I would then head to Germany to attend the conference and present.
This is a great opportunity to immerse myself in different cultures and see some of the world!
Thanks for anything you can contribute, I will try to bring you back chocolate and will keep my facebook updated with awesome photos!
GEOLOGY ROCKS!
