HELP THE ONE HEALTH CENTER of UF for COVID-19

I need your help in sustaining the research on COVID-19 of Professor Ilaria Capua at THE ONE HEALTH CENTER at UNIVERSITY of FLORIDA . The situation in my country, Italy, is dramatic. Losses are unbelievably high and words can’t describe the suffering that my People is passing through. Unfortunately it seems to have already hit the USA with full force! TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE THE DIFFERENCE!
Due to a not yet identified factor the death rate in the Italian region of Lombardy is considerably higher than that of other regions and countries around the world. Is Lombardy an outlier or the first of many?
It is of utmost urgency to understand this, for Italy and for the United States which seems only weeks if not days behind in this terrible pandemic.
The One Health Center of Excellence at the University of Florida, https://onehealth.ifas.ufl.edu/donate/ through dedicated working groups coordinated by Dr Ilaria Capua with Dr Rania Gollakner, Dr Sonja Rasmussen and Dr Daniela Paolotti., is developing a multicentric task force of scientists (the #yesITcan team) to analyze data generated during the Italian COVID epidemic.
The areas of interest of the research as of 20 March 2020, ICI COVID19 ITALY FUND, are:
- Difference between genders
- Dynamics of nosocomial infections
- Pollution and case fatality rate
- Co-morbidity risk factor
- Human mobility as a risk factor
- Multi-resistant bacteria in hospital setting as an overlapping condition
- Underlying conditions
- Planning of pet management
Outcomes of the initiative will be published on the One Health UF website on a regular basis and will provide local and foreign decision makers with vital information in this critical moment.
It is time to help and contribute to a global solution and I personally ask you for your help. Any amount you are able to give will help to fight this terrible pandemic.
