The Eric Cuddle Cot
Donation protected
After a successful fundraising campaign to bring the Shelby Cuddle Cot to Mad River Hospital, I am now asking for your support in funding the Eric Cuddle Cot for St. Joseph Hospital.
A Cuddle Cot is a crib cooling device that allows families who experience infant loss the opportunity to spend more time with their babies. By supporting this campaign, you will be giving these families the gift of time. As a mother of a baby born still, I can tell you how much those precious moments mean. When my husband and I lost our daughter, Shelby, to stillbirth at 41 weeks, there was no Cuddle Cot at our hospital. We had limited time with her. It is our mission to help families in every hospital be able to have the option to spend more time with their babies; time to hold their babies, time to take pictures, time to say "hello" and "goodbye".
Throughout my grieving process, I have been blessed to meet several strong and inspiring mothers in the infant loss community who are now part of my support network. Eric's mother is one of these women. I have received permission to donate this Cuddle Cot in honor of my dear friend’s son, Eric Peter Bermea. Eric was the first born of Linda and Ernest Bermea. Eric passed away a couple weeks after his birth, over 33 years ago. Linda reached out to me in an online support forum shortly after I starting searching for help. Linda was the first loss mother I connected with after losing Shelby. Linda shared her story of Eric and described how they still include Eric in their family after all of these years. In many ways, Eric is a big part of Shelby’s story. Linda gave me hope when I had none. On days when I did not know if I would survive my grief, Linda showed me how to be a mother to Shelby…how to live for Shelby. I am forever grateful to Linda for showing me not only how Shelby could still be part of our family, but how I could use my experience to support others. It is an honor to donate this Cuddle Cot in Eric’s name. Please help me fund this much needed resource.
