I’m creating this fundraiser for my dear friend, Nicole Green, whose family has lost everything in the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica.
Nicole and I have been friends since I was 15 and she was 17. Over the years, I’ve watched her grow into one of the most hardworking, selfless, and determined women I know. She came to the United States as a teenager to reunite with her father, building a new life from the ground up. All of her extended family — her mother, younger sister, and younger brother — remain in Jamaica, and they have now lost everything in the aftermath of this storm.
As a devoted mother, Nicole has always done everything she can to support her children here in the U.S., often putting her own needs aside to ensure they have stability, love, and opportunity. Despite the challenges of single motherhood, she worked tirelessly and saved over the years to build a home back in Jamaica for her family — a safe haven and a symbol of her sacrifice and love. Now, that home and all her family’s belongings have been destroyed, leaving them with nothing but the clothes on their backs and the hope that help will come.
What makes this even more heartbreaking is that Nicole has never been one to ask for help, not even during her hardest times. She’s the kind of person who quietly carries her burdens, always showing strength and compassion, and finding ways to help others even when she herself is struggling. But this tragedy is more than anyone can face alone.
I’m asking for your kindness and generosity to help Nicole and her family rebuild their lives from the rubble. Every dollar donated will go directly toward reconstruction materials, essential supplies, and basic necessities for her mother and siblings in Jamaica. Even the smallest contribution will make a tremendous difference.
Nicole has always been the one who shows up for others — with quiet strength, humility, and love. Now it’s our turn to show up for her.
