This family needs our support as there is no earning member in the family now. Mousumi and her parents need our help to survive with dignity and further contribute to society. Mousumi is a Fulbright scholar from India, who recently received a PhD in education from University of Melbourne Graduate School of Education. She is the first woman in her family to pursue higher studies and research.
Breaking all stereotypes about girl child and Indian parents, her parents committed to give Mousumi good holistic values-based education and encouragement for professional academic career. They also supported her decision to pursue research studies abroad. Mousumi is now transitioning to look for full-time academic jobs.
But, her father has been very sick since May 2012 following a major cerebral stroke. Since then he has been through 3 major brain surgeries and has been hospitalized 6 times. He was hospitalized 6th time on 29th September, 2015 after suffering a fall inside the house and head injury. He has also developed a new symptom of seizures as an effect of cerebral stroke, brain surgeries and head injury. Still he is responding to medication and recovering. He wants to see his daughter and wife secure to be in peace. The doctor is saying he will be well with medication, but will need constant attendant care-giver at home in case of emergency seizure again in the future.
The medical bills are now way beyond his medical insurance coverage. Mousumi and her mother is now unable to bear the medical and care-giving costs till she lands a proper job, especially because her mother has been a home-maker all her life. Its been two weeks since her father was hospitalised. He needs to be kept under medical care in hospital till his condition improves further to be taken home for care-giving. But, their personal savings and resources have also depleted over the years due to family medical expenses.
Kindly help support this family to restore hope for daughter's education and empowerment. Let us help Mousumi bridge this major crisis, so that she can fulfill her dream to contribute to society through her teaching and research, as well as provide for her parent's need for good senior care in old age.
