Joan and Andre Naylor have raised two children and lived along the river in Barnardsville, NC for 35 years. In a matter of hours, life as they knew it was violently washed downstream…yard, trees, garden, furniture, personal belongings, clothing…EVERYTHING was gone!
Helene left behind one acre of river rocks. Helene pushed 4 1/2 feet of mud in their house and in their 130 year old rental house, that they lived in and raised their children in for 25 years. Both structures are being taken down to studs and rebuilt by family and volunteers.
For a 70 year old couple who has devoted a decade to assisting refugees globally, they are now refugees themselves…on their own property. Miraculously, a total stranger has lent a camper for their temporary home while they rebuild.
There is a tent erected by volunteers in which they prepare meals for the many volunteers who show up weekdays and weekends to help.
They are overwhelmed mentally, physically and emotionally.
Please be a ray of hope for a selfless pair striving to keep the faith, despite the long, long road of recovery ahead.
