Hi, I’m Omar. I was a member of the Palestine National Robotics Team in 2022, where I proudly represented Palestine as Team Captain at the FIRST Global Challenge in Switzerland. My team is now preparing to participate in FGC 2025 in Panama, from October 29th to November 1st.

The Palestine National Robotics Team was founded to compete in the Robot Olympics, an annual competition for high school students called the “FIRST Global Challenge.” Each year, over 190 nations send a team to compete and represent their country on the world stage. This year, due to the war, Palestine is at risk of not being able to send a team to compete for the first time in the competition’s history. I’ve created this fundraiser to support my team and friends. They deserve the chance to live the same powerful experience I have. To learn, grow, and represent Palestine with pride.

The Palestine National Robotics Team is a symbol of hope for all the Palestinian people. Every year, we attend the Robot Olympics to prove to the world that Palestinians are capable, resilient, and full of potential. We are more than the conflict that surrounds us! We are innovators, engineers, and dreamers who refuse to be defined by our circumstances.

However, our team is not merely a symbol for a better future. We are building a better future in Palestine right now! Through our robotics program, we have educated over 150 students in engineering, coding, design, and other STEM skills. Our alumni have gone on to study at universities in Palestine, the United States, and across the world. They are training to become the engineers who will lead Palestine into a brighter future.

My experience as Captain of the Palestine National Robotics Team was life-changing. It shaped who I am today, helped me discover my direction in life, and taught me how to face challenges with logic and confidence. I learned the value of asking for help and believing that every effort will eventually pay off. Through this journey, I gained new skills and felt truly prepared for university life. I met inspiring people from all over the world, made friendships that still last, and grew in ways I never imagined.
