After the passing of my aunt, Kathy Ann Huggins, I wanted to help bring her home to Iuka, Mississippi in Tishomingo County where she lived most of her life.
I made this GoFundMe account for my cousin, Daisy Camille Huggins Carter, and her two boys, Casey and Caleb Carter, after the passing of their loving Mother and Nana (my Aunt Kathy) in the early morning hours on January 29, 2026.
Kathy passed peacefully from this world with her daughter, Camille, and grandson, Caleb, by her side. Casey had recently visited in the days before, but he had to say his final goodbye over the phone as he traveled to his first duty station after graduation from the Army.
Kathy battled multiple types of cancer (NSCLC and Light Chain Multiple Myeloma), heart surgeries, kidney failure, and dialysis treatments among other things. Those things take a toll on a family. My hope is that we can all pitch in and offset expenses to help them bring her home to Mississippi from Texas for a memorial service.
Kathy was very proud of Camille, Casey, and Caleb and loved them fiercely. She loved us all. She was super proud of Casey for recently graduating Army Basic Training and finishing AIT to be an Air Traffic Controller. Casey was traveling, with his wife, Kenzie, to his first duty station in Fort Drum, New York during her final hours. So, we also have a goal of getting Casey and Kenzie back for her service.
Losing my aunt, Kathy, is hard for our whole family but especially for her daughter and grandsons who were with her daily since they were very young while Camille was at work and for my MawMaw Anne who hasn't seen her daughter in several years due to each of their difficulties in traveling long distances.
Kathy was like a second mama to me my whole life. She was fiercely loyal, protective, and fun during family card games. She helped people when she could with the little she had. I've seen it many times over the years. I know it would have meant the world to her to know people came together to support her family during this difficult time.
Your thoughts, prayers, and kindness are already a comfort. If you can't donate, sharing this campaign with your network would mean the world to us.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping support a family in need and celebrating the life of a beloved Mother, Nana, Daughter, Sister, Aunt, and Friend.
With gratitude,
Misty Rickman
