Home Birth Fundraiser for Baby Charisma - Evacuated for Fire

Baby Charisma is almost here! We are raising funds to go directly to our midwife, Aleksandra Evanguelidi, who will be supporting us with the home birth of baby number 3! We want a very safe, gentle and family nurturing birth with our other children present, without unnecessary, and often harmful, medical intervention. That is why having our baby at home is one of the most important things to us. In addition, being cared for by the same midwife we had for both of our boys brings us safety, peace of mind and comfort.

We have had to evacuate as a result of the Palisades Fire and are not able to return home yet. We live in Topanga.

We have, thankfully, not lost our home in the fires, but it the air quality is not safe for a newborn baby. Spencer (papa) has lost his work since January 7 because of the fires and he has been desperately looking for work. Our baby is due January 23!

Aleks Evanguelidi LM, CPM has been working in birth for over 20 years. She began her work in birth while maintaining her presence as a nutritionist, an herbalist and educator. She utilizes her years of experience in nutrition to support her clients in having an extraordinary sense of wellness to experience the healthiest pregnancy possible.

Our health insurance only covers hospital birth and conventional Ob/Gyn physicians. Our family considered a free birth at home (with only our family present for the birth) due to our financial situation. We realized that considering an unassisted birth was solely based on not having the funds to afford a midwife and was not because of not wanting pre and post natal care.

We came to realize that the smartest, safest and most supportive way to bring Charisma into this world is under the care of Aleks, a midwife who we trust and is near and dear to our family. Aleks offered to work with us through this difficult financial challenge as we have worked hard to earn extra money. We are still short and need to lean on our community and ask for support. Instead of any material things for our baby girl, we'd so appreciate your help with bringing her into this world in the best way possible. Any donation would help so much.

There is nothing more sacred and powerful to us than having a home birth. To be in our most comforting place for this once in a lifetime experience, surrounded by our dog Pookie, our cat Kiki and our children is pure magic.
