Fourth Grade Field Trip
Mission San Juan Capistrano
A part of the Social Studies 4th Grade Curriculum includes an understanding of how the mission system and the railroads affected the development of California. For these reasons, we plan to accomplish this by taking a 50 minute train ride to tour the San Juan Capistrano Mission.
Our Fourth Grade students need help in order to experience a train on their way to visit one of the missions they have been studying. Few have ever been on a train and our students have had very limited, if any, field trips in the last several years. We believe they should be able to access the greater community, at least this 1 time during their elementary years, for the greater social/historical understanding and context.
We are a lower socio-economic status, Title I School. Our K-8 school has 4 full Fourth Grade classes at 33 to 34 students each and a 4/5 Autism Focus SDC class with 15 students. We believe they should be able to access the greater community, at least this 1 time this year, in order to expand their experiential repertoire.
Please!
Help us take a field trip!
*We need these funds in place by May 5th! in order to pay for the tickets, etc.
