Holly Bishop - Irchy Fundraiser

Calling all fellow Carp anglers... I'm reaching out to you the Carp fishing community because as fishery manager at Irchester lakes (Irchy) our dear friend and Bailiff Grahame Bishop received a call nearly 2 weeks ago from the British Embassy informing him that his beloved daughter Holly had been involved in a life threatening accident in Thailand. She had suffered a serious head injury through no fault of her own due to a motor accident and had undergone surgery to relieve pressure on her brain in a Thai government hospital with really poor standards of care and hygiene. Holly has now been moved to a better hospital in Bangkok where she is now making good progress. Both Grahame and his wife Ula (Ula is currently in Thailand with Holly) have already been faced with huge medical bills for the treatment that Holly has already received but ongoing medical care and rehabilitation costs are overwhelming, especially as it involves international treatment.

Every contribution, no matter how small, will make a huge difference in easing the financial burden and ensuring she receives the medical attention Holly needs to get her well enough to be able to be flown back to the Uk and get the care/rehabilitation she needs without the huge international costs that are currently needing to be covered. A good friend of Holly has already raised a large amount of money via another go fund me page to which so many of you have already donated so generously.

As part of the carp fishing community and knowing how much we all come together to help when needed I felt I needed to push this further to help fund the huge cost of getting Holly home to the UK.

In order to help the fund raising process I will be running a couple of events at Irchy Lakes to hopefully raise some additional funds and help ease the huge cost of such a horrendous situation.

These will hopefully include opportunities to spend 48 hours at the complex with some of the top names in carp angling. Please keep an eye on the Irchester Lakes Facebook page and also the Irchy Lakes Instagram for details of events.

Update...

Holly made it safely back from Thailand with the assistance of an incredible repatriation team who were amazing.

It was a tough trip for Holly but with the incredible resilience that we all know and love her for, she took it all in her stride with very little complaint.

As of 19th June, Holly was admitted to Coventry hospital where she received treatment from one of the best neurological departments in the country and has since been transferred to CERU, a first class rehabilitation unit in Lemington Spa where she is now making good progress.

I'd Just like to give you all an update regarding My daughter's progress.

Because of the original amazing 'go fund me' page set up by one of Holly's friends and the generosity of people, we were able to successfully fly Holly back to Coventry hospital , where they were able to fully assess her and her needs, and then put her name forward to CERU. Which is a first class rehabilitation unit in Leamington Spa.

After a few pensive days of awaiting the outcome of a panel, we are pleased to announce that Holly managed to secure a place at the unit.

This means that Holly will now receive some intensive treatment working on her speech, her eye sight, her movement and self care.

As well as working on the psychological and emotional aspect of her recovery.

There is still a very long way to go but each day there is a visible improvement.

I cannot tell you, just how much this has been such a lift, for not only us, as a family, but for Holly also.

She has been so encouraged by all that has been and is still being done for her to get the very best possible care.

Your generosity is immense
