Hi everyone, I'm Hobbs! I want to tell you about my life and how far I've come.
I started out as an abused scared puppy in a dog-hoarding situation. I was found (saved) by Animal Regulation and then Woods Humane Society in San Luis Obispo, CA when I was 11 months old. I was thin, had patchy fur, and loads of foxtails and ear infections. I was so shut down, I couldn't trust even the gentlest petting or touch. Life was scary.
Then my human took a chance on me.
She brought me home and gave me everything I needed: patience, time, and a reason to trust again. Now I've got a big dog-pack of friends that I play with, I let people love on me without even flinching, and I get to be the goofy, affectionate dog I was always meant to be.
Here's the problem: I've been diagnosed with Bilateral Medial Luxating Patellas- both my kneecaps dislocate with every step. Right now I'm basically housebound, waiting on the first of two surgeries (~8,000. each) to get my legs-- and my life-- back.
It's a long recovery, and it's a lot to ask. My human doesn't love asking for help, but she's been my person through everything, and now I need to be strong enough to keep being hers. We're a team, and we just want the chance to keep taking care of each other.
If you can chip in anything toward my surgeries, it would mean the world. I've already come further than anyone thought I could-- I just need this one more shot to finish the job.
