The Hermit Kings Farewell Album
Donation protected
First off, here's the new single Warcry
So... we've been a band in some form or another for the last 4 years. We toured through 7 states, played festivals big and small, seen members come and go, and written songs that will always resonate with us and hopefully with our fans as well.
Over the years we've made a point to keep our merch prices and cover charges low or free whenever possible (Cinco De Mothlight/Free For All Friday's '15 and '16) but we put all of ourselves into every show we've played. Remember when we hung 300 paper cranes from the rafters of the Grey Eagle? And that sign made of Christmas lights that said The Hermit Kings?
Well... now we need your help.
We've got about 12 songs, most of which you've heard if you've seen us in the past year, and we want to record them properly. We've got a great oppertunity to work with some friends in Asheville for the month of February to get the songs tracked. We'll have full access to a studio to get every ounce of our blood, sweat, and tears onto tape and be able to bring in guest musicians who have helped us along the way.
Cashing In saw some success regionally on the radio and we have high hopes for Warcry (debuted here! ) through January. We're trying to raise as much money as possible to make releasing this funeral album (as we're calling it) as big of a success as possible.
After our next run of shows (Friday's in January at Isis) and these recordings, we'll be retiring our practice space and focusing more closely on other areas of our lives. It's not the end of The Hermit Kings, just the end of the Hermit Kings as it currently stands.
This is our farewell album. Please help us make it as memorable as we've tried to make all of the shows we've played for you.
Regardless of donation... Thank you for everything.
Best,
Kings
