Last year hit harder than I ever anticipated. Dorothy, my sweet duck, had ongoing medical needs that brought our duck vet bills to close to $5,000. Then Bubba, my senior rescue duck, needed surgery, adding just over $1,100 more.

And 2026 wasted no time. Lulu, my mini cow, required an emergency C-section, which added another $4,000 in veterinary costs. My Pekin Jemima has a foot infection that vets are unable to determine the cause of, and my mini duck, Cheesecake was egg bound, requiring emergency care.

In total, care for all my animals exceeded $40,000 last year, with over $20K of that being veterinary expenses alone. I've already surpassed $7,800 in vet bills for 2026.

I am working on setting up a non-profit for my rescues so future donations will be tax deductible, but until then, I could use some help.

I don’t share this easily. Caring for my animals is a responsibility I take seriously. They rely on me completely, and I will always do everything I can to provide for them. But sometimes providing means being honest and asking for support.
