I’m Taylor Williams, a 32-year-old single dad to a 9-year-old boy. On April 4, 2025, our lifes got much harder when a fire from a uninsured car in a parking lot destroyed our car—5 days after buying it. I used years of savings. (All of my savings, and sold a large pokemon/nintendo collection some from my childhood to pay for this car. It was a true feeling of satifaction and a lesson for my son at the same time. It was a symbol of hard work and a better future. Now, it’s gone, along with lour normal routine, stability, and are now in a bit of s financial bind
The fire was at a Columbia, MO, apartment complex and was called a “freak accident” by police, leaving us with questions and no answers. Insurance is paying out but the other vehicle. The one that caught on fire and burned mine was uninsured so i do have to pay a large deductible, approximately 800 in taxes and fees for registration are also lost we can’t get that back from insurance, and no rental car coverage has left us stuck broke and struggling.
My son, with incredible grace, has been amazing and at times kept my head held up through this process. (It happened april 4th- its may 5 and still no insurance settlement..
We will be using all funds to offset the deductible, and help in getting out replacement vehicle once we reach a agreement on value!
