God has performed the miracle.Can you help MICHAEL WHITAKER?

MIKE is a 40 year old husband, and father of two. He RECEIVED A DOUBLE LUNG TRANSPLANT on 3/29/25, BUT HE NEEDS HELP COVERING MONTHLY BILLS (FOR A FAMILY OF 4) WHILE HE IS STILL RECOVERING.

---THE TIMELINE AND HIS JOURNEY---

In December 2024, Mike went to the doctor and was told he had penumonia. This happened two more times over the next month.

He eventually went to the Emergency room and was admitted to the hospital on Friday, February 14, 2025 with extreme shortness of breath and discomfort. He was given two different antibiotics, and Magnesium through IV.

On Monday, February 17, 2025, a bronchoscopy was performed. It showed a surprising amount of secretions and mucus in his airway and his lungs. The medical professional took some tissue samples, cultures and biopsies of (what appeared to be) cysts found around the bottom of the left lung.

On Tuesday February 18, 2025, the doctor said Mike had INTERCISTIAL LUNG DISEASE.

An open biopsy was performed on Thursday, February 19, 2025. The doctor made three incisions, deflated the left lung, took two biopsies (top and bottom lobes), and inserted a chest tube to reinflate and drain post surgery.

Over the next 3 weeks, he had procedures done but still gained no clarity on his illness, while the biopsies were unfortunately lost at the hospital.

His body could not handle another open biopsy, and his lung continued to collapse, so He came home on oxygen for 5 days before being admitted to a different hospital in Knoxville, TN.

On Wednesday, March 26, 2025, University of Tennessee Medical Center had him air lifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

On Saturday, March 29, 2025 Mike received a double lung transplant

On Sunday, March 30, 2025 The medical team kept him on ECMO and vent for the day, while adding an epidural for pain control.

On Monday, March 31,2025 He was extubated, came off ECMO, and got to talk to his wife by phone.

On April 1, 2025, he had too much fluid on his lungs, and needed too much oxygen to help him breathe, so they put a trach in to vent him as needed.

For the next week or so he battled with Afib here and there (april 6th), and bounced between being on and off the vent and trach collar.

On April 10, 2025 he got to speak to his wife by phone, and have his first cranberry juice and meal.

On Thursday, April 17, 2025 he got his drain tubes removed

On Friday April 18, 2025 he got the trach removed and was released from the hospital to his temporary housing in Nashville for outpatient recovery services.

April 29, 2025 made one month post transplant. He started rehab that afternoon, and doctor visits continue to go well.

THE REQUEST/NEED---------

It is amazing thinking back how far Mike has come already. He still has some down days, but he is starting to act like the old Mike we all know and love.

Jehovah Jireh has provided so much for their family already, but I do believe He also provides through divine relationships.
