Help Jason and Family with Expenses of Micro Preemie Birth
Donation protected
Hello everyone! As most of you know, our Eleanor Faye Oberbroeckling arrived 14 weeks before her due date via an emergency C-Section due to Momma having Severe Pre-eclampsia. At birth, Eleanor Faye was only 2 lbs 6oz, making her a Micro Preemie. She is currently being cared for in the NICU at Vanderbilt University Children's Hospital and will remain there until her original due date of June 6.
This has caught Mommy and Daddy off guard and overwhelmed, but we're truly grateful she is doing well!
We are asking for help to assist Daddy, Jason Oberbroeckling, and Mommy, Sophia Oberbroeckling, with the extensive expenses they will be accruing in the next few weeks/months. In addition to the medical expenses, gas and food costs, Jason is extremely limited on Paternity leave and therefore can't be at home, taking care of his girls and spending extra needed time with Eleanor once released. Her early arrival is costing a significant amount of money for meals etc.
Thank you for any and all help you can provide.
We love you all!
Details:
On March 1st, 2025 Sophia was taken to Vanderbilt labor and delivery Emergency Room due to medical issues involving her blood pressure. The staff there ran tests and determined that she was experiencing Severe Pre-eclampsia, and in order to protect both her and Baby Eleanor's health, she required an emergency C-section be performed ASAP. At 2:59am on March 2nd, they performed the emergency Classic C-section. All went well, however, Eleanor was only 26 weeks and only 2lbs 6 oz, so she was immediately rushed to the NICU and put on a ventilator, before mommy or daddy could even hold her.
Mommy was kept in post-partum for 4 days after receiving a 24hr magnesium drip, in order to recover from the surgery. Baby Eleanor Faye remains in the NICU, likely until her original due date of June 6th (the day before Daddy's birthday). She is making significant strides in improvement and was removed from the vent and placed on a bubble CPAP after 1 DAY which is typically unheard of per the nursing staff. She has had her milk intake increased from 1ml to 7ml over the last 5 days and is doing outstanding according to the staff. She has a very long recovery ahead, but we are all hopeful and praying she continues to make significant strides. Mommy and Daddy will be making regular trips to and from Nashville to be with her and participate in her care by providing skin to skin interactions when allowed. Seeing as this is their first child, and one that they tried very hard to be able to have, this time extremely important to them.
This was a very traumatic, and unexpected, situation as you may assume. The expenses of travel, extra medical costs and loss of wages due to limited paternity leave are all significant. Any donations would be gratefully appreciated
