Support for Lakin's Healing Journey
A few weeks ago, Lakin, was involved in a devastating car accident that nearly took her life. She sustained a number of serious, life-altering injuries, including:
• Four broken ribs
• A broken neck, which will permanently affect her mobility
• A cracked vertebra
• Multiple severe facial lacerations requiring 32 stitches, from her lip to her earlobe
• A punctured lung
• Significant head trauma and a severe concussion, resulting in cognitive delays and short-term memory loss.
Her neurologist is hopeful she will make a full recovery, but as with any traumatic brain injury, the timeline remains uncertain.
Lakin’s husband, Damon, has been a wonderful caregiver and support system for her, and he filed FMLA paperwork (and is currently not receiving any pay) to stay home and care for her. They also have 4 children to care for, so you can imagine how challenging it must be financially, physically, and emotionally to do it all. To help ease this burden, this GoFundMe has been set up on behalf of Lakin and Damon to assist with their household expenses, travel to and from medical appointments, and the ever-mounting medical bills. Your support—no matter the amount—can help alleviate some of their financial stress and allow them to focus entirely on Lakin’s healing. If a financial contribution isn’t feasible for you right now, your prayers and positive thoughts are equally appreciated.

Thank you to each and every person who has shown up and stood by them during this time. Truly.
Please note: As her health permits, Lakin will provide occasional updates regarding upcoming medical appointments and her physical therapy journey. At present, she is navigating significant challenges with pain management and short-term memory, so we thank you in advance for your patience and understanding if updates are infrequent in the early stages of her recovery.
